full house

finally, a full house.
the place i'm renting right now has six bedrooms, and for awhile now one room remained unoccupied. but our latest housemate moved in recently, and the house roster is now complete.

i haven't mention about all my housemates, have i? let me introduce you guys to them. the six of us housemates are: robert (rob), raymond (ray), bradley (brad), amit (amit), stefan (stefan) and me (syamil).

first, rob. he's the landlord. well, ok not really, coz technically his parents own the place. but we give our rent checks to him anyway, and whatever problems with the house we tell him anyway, so for practical purposes rob is the landlord.

rob is polish, so his last name is a little a bit tricky to spell i won't even bother here. he's stocky in size (i'm a little taller than him), but very fit super fit imeanjeewhiz fit like a racehorse. he runs twenty mile, twenty i say!, just for the heck of it. crap, i can't even trot half a block without wheezing and gagging for air. rob does jujitsu too, and he's fairly good at it. favorite show on tv: ultimate fighting championships. for those who has never seen it, the UFC fighting is incredibly unbelievably bloodsplashingly brutal.

rob studies somethingsomething medicine at UIC, i forgot what his exact major is, but i do know one of his class this semester is cadaver slicing coz he keeps telling me what deadpeople bodyparts he gets to cut open today. yeah, ughhh. : )

next is ray, who is my favorite housemate coz he just cracks me up. he so funny! ray is mexicano a mano como esta bien bien por favor. he studies physicaltherapy, taking like maybe six classes this semester and still works some 20+ hours part-time so i told him are you frikkin' insane?? we both share a passion for texas hold'em poker, although i will say that this guy is sooo seriously into poker it's amusing to see how tightfaced he gets when he's staring at his cards. every once in awhile we'll go play poker together, sometimes with his friends (who're fast becoming my buddies too) or sometimes it's just me and ray trying to beat the crap of each other playing heads-up. fav book: how pros play poker.

when i moved in, there were only rob and ray staying at the house. after awhile, brad became our next housemate. he's a typical whiteboy, hehe, tall and lanky with pale complexion and reddish hair and silly silly whitepeople laugh. he's a little country too, coming from tinleypark, so city living is a little off his radar a bit. but he's a cool person, hollering "what's up, brother?" when he sees me in the morning. (except he says it like, "whassup bruth-thah!" hihi!) also a student at UIC, also somethingsomething medicine. along with rob and ray, his must tivo-tv is *understandably* "grey's anatomy." the three of them are obsessed with that show.

after brad, came amit. he's indian, ...that is india indian and not, u know, sacajawea indian. he was previously in canada for maybe a year, working in montreal i think, coz his brother's also there. amit and i quickly became good friends because we share something nobody else in the household has: the life of immigrants. and also, nasi beriani. he often badgers me to drive him to indian town with him, perhaps do some spice-shopping, and definitely a stop at gharib nawaz for some cheap-but-overfulfilling chicken beriani. amit likes to light up some incense in the living room, so the house often smells like kuil india. and sometimes likes to turn up his hindustan songs, so the house sometimes sounds like karaoke mumbai-mari.

the last to move in was stefan, a filipino-american, short baldheaded very friendly asian boy. stefan and amit and i are working people, instead of students like the other three, so it's kinda nice to have another adult around the house. stefan at first thought he's the oldest amongst us, until he asked me of my age. when i told him he was very surprised, and said i looked um maybe twentysix-twentyseven maybe. haha thankyou thankyou. his girlfriend is thai, and between the two of them they should know a lot of cute asian girls so i kept bugging them to introduce me to tha ladies or maybe korean chicks coz i can't get enough of them eeeeeeeee ahnyounghaseyoo!!!!

so, there we are, all six of us. one of these days i'll maybe post some pictures of us. coz i am very fond of all my housemates here. i've had housemates before, but none at the level of fun and funny and hilarity and maturity and levelheadedness of these guys now.

i count my blessings.
